A Beautiful Day

When I woke up in the morning  I saw, the non-living things in my bedroom gave me a wink and
a smile. I then peeked through the window to find another bright sunny morning greet me.
I drank my cup of green tea and then followed my daily fitness routine. I sweated out and it felt
real good.
I humbly thanked my Lord for this another blessed day.

Then, I listened to blissful devotional Hindi music, read some inspiring quotes, did positive
affirmations , yoga and meditation to start my day on a good note.

India's currency demonetization: risky move or a masterstroke

Demonetization of higher denomination currency notes- 500 and `1000 by Modi's central Indian government has been done with the aim to fight corruption, root out black money and to stop terror financing.

Demonetization move has largely been welcomed by the masses, celebs and experts as in general people are appreciative of this bold decision which will benefit the Indian economy by lowering inflation and reducing corruption in the system in the long run.

Hailed by the supporters as the surgical strike against black money, the critics seem to dismiss demonetisation move as carpet bombingWMD ( weapons of mass destruction) resulting in unaccounted collateral damage.

While most political parties backed the demonetisation decision as a welcome step.  Now one week later, many opposition parties are criticising the shoddy implementation of the plan. They argue that the common man has been caused great inconvenience. The urban poor, older folks and rural folks without bank accounts are worst hit.  People have to stand in long queues for hours even whole day just to deposit and exchange notes in the bank and sometimes with little success. ATMs are not working in many places or cash running out fast.

While Modi government has asked people to bear the pain for 50 days for the good of Indian economy saying that he understands and his government is working hard to ease their pain. But the Opposition parties are not buying it, terming the decision as undeclared emergency. Complaining that to catch 1% corrupt, why  99% honest folks are treated as criminals, having to face such a harrowing time. One leader even called the whole move a scam.  Opposition parties are calling for a rollback and planning to raise the issue forcefully in the winter session of parliament. The government in the meanwhile has asserted it will not rollback the demonetisation decision which has popular support.

Modi government has shown that it is capable of taking politically risky bold decisions for the welfare of the Indian society unlike past governments of late. But with people's patience growing thin, it is well advised to take all corrective measures to ensure smoother and successful implementation of the demonetization plan. 😊

Donald Trumps Hillary To Win Historic 2016 US Presidential Elections

Donald Trump was elected USA's 45th President after his stunning victory in groundbreaking 2016 presidential election. In one of the most shocking upsets in US elections in modern political history, Donald Trump has defeated Hillary Clinton after a long bitter divisive campaign. It is no less than a political tsunami whose reverberations are being felt across the world. He was able to channelise Brexit style forces, the anti establishment angst to defeat the ultimate insider Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump who was written off by most pollsters, mocked at his critics and comics everywhere has had the last laugh. He proved everybody wrong. It seems he knew the pulse of the general public better than most. He used the digital media effectively and the White working class supporters identified with him and rallied behind him in full force. They were willing to overlook his sexist talk, suspect temperament and lack of qualifications as they liked his message: to bring jobs, security, building wall across the border, repealing Obamacare, deport illegal immigrants and making America great again.

Lets hope he is able to heal divisions within US and beyond like he pledged after his stunning victory.  The world needs a tall responsible US leadership to carry on the fight against global terrorism and climate climate for our better tomorrow.

What is Freedom of Expression?

These days we hear a lot about the freedom of expression. Few controversies in recent times have made it the burning topic and put it under the spotlight. There are heated debates in news shows on telly and social media. There seems to be a clear divide between those who argue that freedom of expression is their constitutional right and must be respected. They feel none is holy enough to be spared and everyone is fair game when it comes to humour.

While the other side argues no freedom is absolute and there are limits to free speech and expression. They say that in name of freedom of expression, you don't have right to cuss legends and abuse national honour. Like in case of infamous Tanmay Bhatt's snapchat AIB video mocking greats Lataji and Sachin paaji . General Public and celebs roasted the video describing it as crass, tasteless and disrespectful.

But then some political parties and fringe groups (sensing an opportunity to make political capital) jumped in the fray. They seemed so incensed that they threatened to beat up the comedian for mocking legends for cheap publicity and money. Others threatened to file criminal lawsuits to teach the fool a lesson.

While we all love and respect our national heroes and express our displeasure when our national icons are targeted or disrespected. But there should not be an overreaction. It does more harm than good to any society. Advocating violence and threats is simply not done and such practices should be completely discouraged.

Media and masses need to learn to ignore such cheap videos and not indulge in sensationalism by airing clips/footage of it repeatedly daily, giving it the oxygen (free publicity) that it badly needs to grow and let it die a quiet death if we don't like it.
